GP’s mostly work in privately owned and operated practices. There are many costs, including staff wages and medical equipment. We all know that the cost of living has increased in recent years, and costs to medical practices are no different. In fact, medical equipment costs increase at more twice the rate of inflation every year. Despite the increase in costs, which are being felt by everyone, the Government has not increased the Medicare rebate enough to support your ongoing healthcare.

From 9th September:

All Pensioners and children under 16 will continue to be bulk billed.

Health Care Card Holders will continue to have a reduced gap of $30.00 for their consultations.

All other patients who are not on a concession card, and are billed privately will attract a gap of $55.25. However, if you make payment on the day of your consultation your account will be discounted by $10.00.
