Northern Midlands Medical Services is seeking a GP to join the practice on either a full-time or part-time basis with an opportunity for practice partnership.
This privately-owned practice provides health services to a population of approximately 12,500 people across the greater Northern Midlands community. Established over 40 years ago, the practice is a continuum of doctors working in the district that goes back to colonial times. The current site has been used since the 1960’s, with major upgrades in 2001 and 2014.
In 2015, the practice opened a new surgery in the nearby town of Perth.
The practice provides support to the nearby residential aged care facility, Toosey Nursing Home, which has 50 aged care beds and two acute medical beds.
The Practice if located in two rural towns in northern Tasmania just twenty minutes’ drive from the regional city of Launceston. There are ten well equipped consulting rooms, an emergency room, treatment rooms and nurses’ rooms. All types of family medicine, and minor surgery, are provided.
The practice is AGPAL accredited and received the RACGP National Practice of the Year 2007 award.
The practice if an accredited teaching practice and has been teaching GP registrars and medical students for many years, along with international medical graduates and nursing students.
There is a mental health nurse practitioner on staff, with allied health professionals, including a diabetes education, dietitian, audiometry and respiratory service, attending the practice on a regular basis. A neurologist also consults at the practice.
